Bus stops in Italy turn into works of art

Bus stops have become an open-air art gallery in the Basso region of the Lazio region thanks to the initiative of Creative Tourism.

If we recall the various elements of the urban landscape, not only in Italy, but also in any other country, canopies at bus stops cannot be called particularly attractive, at least from an aesthetic point of view. Often they are old, neglected, bearing traces of all kinds of acts of vandalism.

Bus stops look more than unsightly, and many people spend part of their time there every day.

However, art can transform objects in the worst state - this is the main setting of the Inattesa project, the Turismo Creativo initiative and the Ziguline.it cultural portal in collaboration with the city administrations of Gaeta, Formia ), Itri and Terracina.

“Non-expectation” is a project to transform and re-evaluate the urban landscape, which offers its residents “a few bright minutes”: 12 contemporary artists use metal and glass surfaces of bus stops for their works, made in different techniques and styles, but united by a common goal - add colors and positive emotions to the gray everyday life of citizens.

Since October, artists Aloha Oe, Camilla Falsini, Cancelletto, Millo, Diego Miedo, Giulio Vesprini, Jonathan Pannacciò, Mp5, Opiemme, Rocco Lombardi, Hopnn e Zolta give all their best so that people waiting for the bus will spend time brightly and interestingly.

Usually neglected and groomed city corners gradually turn into an open-air gallery, which makes short bus stops fascinating.

It should be mentioned that Creative Tourism has already held a similar action. Then it was a street art festival called "Memorie Urbane", during which young artists decorated the walls of the city of Costa di Ulisse.

"We want to give a new life and arouse interest in bus stops, which are often in poor condition and subjected to acts of vandalism, in order to return to the citizens a certain civic identity and sense of ownership," these are the words of David Rossillo, President of Creative Tourism and author of the idea of "City Memories" .

“Non-expectation,” in turn, is supposed to be made an annual action held in the fall in various Italian cities with the participation of young artists. The festival will be supported by public fees through the Eppela Internet platform: anyone can put even a small amount on the account of Creative Tourism, thereby contributing to the development of art.
