The Russian church was built on the initiative of the Russian community by the Italian architect P. Agosti according to the project of A. Schusev in 1913 in the style of Moscow churches of the 17th century (Schusev designed and created the Lenin mausoleum in Moscow). Officially, she bears the name of Christ the Savior (Chiesa di Cristo Salvatore). The temple is active, but it does not have its own priest, therefore services are conducted irregularly. In addition to gaming areas, cinemas and a theater are open here. The casino hosts concerts, exhibitions, theater performances, literary meetings, poker championships. From 1951 to 1977, a song festival was held in the building.

The “ancestor” of San Remo was the ancient settlement of Matutia, founded by commander Guy Matucius in the 1st century BC.
